Seoul (Diplomat.so) – North Korea has accused South Korea of violating its airspace by sending drones in September last year and earlier this week, warning that Seoul will face a "high price" if such provocations continue.
A spokesman for North Korea’s General Staff, cited by the state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), called South Korea "the most hostile enemy,” accusing it of acts that contradict its public calls for dialogue with Pyongyang.

KCNA reported that on January 4, North Korea detected a drone from Ganghwa in Incheon and shot it down near Moksan-ri, close to the border city of Kaesong, using electronic warfare. Another drone from Paju reportedly fell in Jangbong, Kaesong, after entering North Hwanghae province.

The spokesman said the drone that fell this week was equipped with surveillance devices to photograph targets inside North Korea. Pyongyang accused the South Korean military of orchestrating the operations, noting the drones crossed areas with radar and counter-drone systems.

The statement emphasized that these incidents reflect "South Korea’s hostile nature” and warned that Seoul would remain a target if provocations continue.

In October 2024, North Korea reported three South Korean drones carrying propaganda leaflets over Pyongyang, threatening retaliation. Tensions persist despite South Korea’s new administration attempting to resume dialogue since June, while North Korean leader Kim Jong-un described relations as between "hostile states,” according to Yonhap News Agency.
