Algiers (Diplomat.so) – Algeria's Constitutional Court on Saturday, July 18, announced the final results of the July 2 National People's Assembly election, confirming limited seat reallocations after reviewing hundreds of electoral appeals and validating the overall national turnout.
The Constitutional Court said it examined 320 appeals submitted by candidates, political parties, and electoral lists before issuing its final decision, which resulted in the redistribution of five parliamentary seats. Court President Leila Aslaoui, speaking during a press conference in Algiers, confirmed that the nationwide voter turnout remained at 21.24 percent, matching the provisional figure previously announced by the Independent National Election Authority.

According to the court, the review process uncovered electoral irregularities affecting polling stations in several constituencies, including Algiers, Chlef, Bouira, Djelfa, M'Sila, Mila, Oran, Barika and Ain Oussera. The court annulled votes cast for specific party lists in affected polling stations before recalculating seat allocations based on verified results.

"The Constitutional Court ruled on all admissible appeals in accordance with the Constitution and the electoral law to preserve the integrity of voters' ballots and ensure respect for electoral legality," Aslaoui told reporters. She added that 43 appeals were accepted, eight were rejected on procedural grounds, and 269 were dismissed for lacking legal basis.

Official figures released by the court showed that the National Liberation Front (FLN) secured 91 seats, followed by the National Democratic Rally (RND) with 74 seats. The Future Front won 56 seats, losing three compared with the provisional results. The Movement of Society for Peace (MSP) retained 43 seats, while the National Construction Movement gained two seats to reach 40. Independent candidates increased their representation to 33 seats, and the Voice of the People Party fell to 16 seats.

Diplomat News Network spoke with Yousuf Anwar, an Algerian political analyst and political science lecturer, who said the limited changes reflected "a judicial review that adjusted specific constituency outcomes without altering the overall political balance produced by the vote." He added that the court's detailed examination of polling station records was intended to strengthen confidence in electoral dispute mechanisms.

Outside several government institutions in central Algiers, activity remained calm on Saturday as journalists, party representatives and observers gathered following the announcement. Security personnel maintained a visible presence around official buildings, and election officials distributed copies of the court's declaration to accredited media.

The court reported that 23.87 million voters were registered nationwide, with 5.07 million ballots cast, including 91,810 votes from Algerians living abroad, where turnout reached 10.75 percent. Of the ballots cast domestically, 959,689 were declared invalid, leaving 4.11 million valid votes.

The final certification formally concludes Algeria's parliamentary electoral process and clears the way for the newly elected National People's Assembly to begin its legislative term. The results will be published in Algeria's Official Gazette together with detailed constituency-level tables, completing the constitutional procedures governing the 2026 legislative elections.
