Somali President Receives Djibouti Delegation in Lasanod

Lasanod (Diplomat.so) - The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, received a delegation from the Government of Djibouti at his residence in the city of Lasanod, where the delegation is attending the inauguration ceremony of the newly elected leadership of the Northeastern Somalia regional administration.
During the meeting, President Mohamud spoke about the historical ties between Somalia and Djibouti and acknowledged Djibouti’s role during periods related to Somalia’s sovereignty, unity, peacebuilding, state-building and development efforts.

Members of the Djiboutian delegation congratulated Somalia on recent diplomatic achievements and reiterated Djibouti’s stated position regarding Somalia’s territorial integrity and national unity.

The delegation includes Djibouti’s Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments, Mumin Hassan Barre; Minister of Communications, Ridwan Abdullahi Bahdon; the Ambassador of Djibouti to Somalia; and other officials.

The visit takes place as Somalia continues engagement with neighboring countries on regional and political matters.
