Mogadishu (Diplomat.so) - The Cabinet of the Federal Government of Somalia on Thursday endorsed the National Diaspora Policy after consulting with all government institutions, federal member states and civil society as well as the Somali communities and diaspora.
The cabinet session, which was chaired by Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Hamza Abdi Barre, was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Mr. Abshir Omar Jama, the State Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Mr. Ali Mohamed Omar, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Mr. Isaak Mohamud Mursal, and other ministers represented from other ministries.
Consultations on the National Diaspora Policy took place between August 3, 2021, and January 30, 2022 in Mogadishu, Kismayo, Jowhar, Garowe, Baidoa, and Dhusamareb, in which hundreds of politicians and civil society actors participated, until the final touches were put before it was presented to the Council of Ministers, where it was approved today by a majority.
