Lasanod, the capital of the Northeast State, has become a key political and administrative center in recent years. The president’s visit comes amid ongoing efforts to consolidate federal authority, promote dialogue, and support peacebuilding initiatives in regions that have experienced political tension.

During his stay, President Mohamud is scheduled to meet with regional leaders, traditional elders, civil society representatives, women’s groups, and youth leaders. Discussions are expected to focus on governance, reconciliation, security coordination, and collaborative development projects between the federal government and regional administrations.

Officials described the visit as a demonstration of the government’s commitment to inclusive political processes and the importance of fostering cooperation across all levels of society. 

The presidency noted that the visit also aims to reaffirm Somalia’s sovereignty, strengthen local institutions, and ensure that efforts toward state-building and national development continue to advance despite challenges.
