Washington (Diplomat.so) - US President Donald Trump has signed a presidential memorandum ordering the United States to withdraw from 66 international organizations, according to a statement issued by the White House.
The statement said the decision was taken on the grounds that the organizations no longer serve US interests. Under the memorandum, all US federal departments and executive agencies are instructed to cease participation in and funding for the affected bodies.
The move covers 35 international organizations outside the United Nations system, as well as 31 entities affiliated with the United Nations. The White House did not provide further details on the timeline for implementation or name the organizations involved.
