Mogadishu (diplomat.so) – Tragedy struck on Thursday (18 January) as a United Nations-contracted cargo plane, en route with vital humanitarian supplies for the World Food Programme, crashed while attempting to land on an air-strip in El-Barde, located in Somalia's South West State.
The aircraft veered off the runway during its landing, resulting in one confirmed fatality and two individuals sustaining injuries, according to preliminary reports.

The United Nations in Somalia extends heartfelt condolences to the family and colleagues of the victim and wishes a swift recovery for those injured in the incident.
