Jeddah (Diplomat.so) - The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly condemned the recent unauthorized visit by the Israeli foreign minister to the so-called Somaliland region, which remains an integral part of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
OIC Secretary-General Hussein Ibrahim Taha described the visit as a violation of Somalia’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity. He emphasized that any official presence or engagement within Somali territory without the consent or authorization of the Somali government is illegal, null, and void, and contravenes the principles of the United Nations Charter, including respect for sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs, and territorial integrity.
The Secretary-General reaffirmed the OIC’s firm support for the Federal Republic of Somalia in safeguarding its sovereignty and territorial unity. He called on the international community to act immediately to stop any actions that undermine Somalia’s sovereignty, threaten its unity, or compromise peace and stability in the Horn of Africa.
