Ankara (diplomat.so) - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed deep disappointment in the Western nations, accusing them of failing to address the ongoing crisis in Gaza. Speaking at a handover ceremony for the Turkish Navy's new warships in the Sea of Marmara, Erdogan asserted that the West's lack of action demonstrated a breakdown of trust.
Erdogan condemned the Western countries for not taking decisive steps to prevent the violence unfolding in Gaza, laying blame on their alleged indifference and labeling them as having "fascist faces." He highlighted the failure of global security organizations, citing the Israel-Palestine conflict as a glaring example of their inability to maintain peace and prevent humanitarian crises.

During the ceremony, broadcast by the TRT Haber channel, Erdogan drew parallels with previous instances where international security organizations had faltered, mentioning Iraq, Bosnia, Syria, and Somalia. He specifically criticized the Western response, accusing them of idly watching acts of "genocide and barbarism" committed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whom he referred to as the "Fuehrer of Modern Times."

Erdogan emphasized Turkey's efforts in addressing global conflicts, referencing the Istanbul talks on a settlement in Ukraine in March 2022. He asserted that the importance of the initiative became evident over time, claiming that had it succeeded, many lives could have been spared. Erdogan warned those who turned a blind eye to the alleged massacres in Gaza, perpetrated by Israel, that they would face disastrous consequences. He expressed confidence that, similar to the Ukraine situation, repentance and acknowledgment of the tragedy in Gaza would eventually prevail.
