#Somalia’s ambassador to #Egypt and Arab League dies
Cairo,Egypt ( DIPLOMAT.SO) – The Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Somalia and Egypt has announced officially the death of the Somali ambassador to Cairo,Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League Abdullahi Hassan Mohamud in a hospital in Cairo on Sunday.
The Somali career diplomat was the dean of Arab and African ambassadors in Cairo.
President of the Federal Republic of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud described the death of Ambassador Abdullahi Hassan, that Somalia has lost one of the pillars of diplomacy.
Somali Foreign Ministry confirmed that Abdullahi Hassan has spent 28 years to serve Somalia, Arab and African issues.
In that context, The Egyptian Foreign Ministry led by Minister Sameh Shoukry paid a tribute to Mohamud, the cause of whose death has not been explained.
Ahmed Abou Zeid, a Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry described the late Mohamud’s role in strengthening Egypt’s relations with Somalia as invaluable and praised his effort to forge greater understanding and deeper collaboration among countries in the Arab world.
