Mogadishu ( DIPLOMAT.SO) – Banaadir court in Mogadishu on Wednesday ordered the deportation of 27 Kenyans for being in Somalia illegally, or imprisonment.

The judge further said the Kenyans will be fined 10 USD each, for every day they spend in Somalia, while their employer will pay 10,000 USD fine.

The employees of Liber Link, a foreign software company, denied charges of working without a permit.

Kenya has in the recent past deported 359 illegal immigrants to Somali, since the launch of a security crackdown in April 2014.

Those deported were said to be registered refugees.

In January, UNHCR issued guidelines of repatriation to Somalia and called on countries not to send back individuals before interviewing them to ascertain they do not face persecution or other serious harm if returned.
