U.S. calls for unity in #Jubaland, #Somalia
Nairobi , Kenya ( DIPLOMAT.SO) – According to a press statement issued by the U.S. embassy in Somalia, temporarily working in the Kenyan capital Nairobi, confirmed that the United States welcomes the stated promises to bring the remaining clans residing in the Middle Juba, Lower Juba and Gedo to the Parliament of Jubaland State of Somalia .
The United States welcomes the September 10 announcement by Interim Juba Administration (IJA) President Sheikh Ahmed Mohamed Islam Madobe committing to expand the IJA Assembly by ten members prior to his inauguration on September 12th. The United States commends the constructive engagement of IJA President Madobe with President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke to address concerns of inclusive representation. As stakeholders hold consultative meetings in Kismayo, we encourage continuing progress towards establishing an electoral process by the end of the year for the 2016 elections.
