Benedict Cumberbatch marries Sophie Hunter on Valentine’s Day ,February 14
London ( Agencies + DIPLOMAT.SO) – Sorry, Benedict Cumberbatch fans: The actor is officially off the market.
The “Sherlock” star, who is up for a Best Actor Oscar for his role in “The Imitation Game,” wed theater director Sophie Hunter on Saturday at the Isle of Wight in the south of England, People reports.
The Valentine’s Day ceremony reportedly took place at St. Peter and St. Paul’s Church in Mottistone, a medieval church constructed in the 12th century. After the ceremony, a reception was held at Mottistone Manor.
“Benedict and Sophie were married yesterday surrounded by their close friends and family,” the actor’s rep told the Daily News on Sunday. “It was a magical day.”
The pair only announced their engagement in November with a formal announcement in the Times of London newspaper.
And just last month they confirmed they were also expecting their first child.
Cumberbatch, 38, and Hunter, 36, who is also an actress, first met while performing in a 2009 film, “Burlesque Fairytales.”
It is not known when they first began dating, though they were pictured together last summer at French Open tennis in Paris.
Hunter studied French at Oxford University.
The pair may have to cut short any plans for a honeymoon, as Cumberbatch should be on the 2015 Academy Awards’ red carpet on Feb. 22.
He is up against Bradley Cooper, Steve Carrell, Michael Keaton and Eddie Remayne in the Best Actor category. For more news and stories, join us on Facebook,Twitter , or contact us through our Email: email@example.com, firstname.lastname@example.org
