Legal trouble for Aishwarya’s ‘Jazbaa’ director, Sanjay Gupta
Mumbai , India ( Agencies + DIPLOMAT.SO) – Sanjay Gupta has filed a complaint against producer Vinod Bachchan for harassment and extortion with the Versova police station in Mumbai. He claims that Vinod has sent him a ‘fake’ legal notice demanding Rs.50 lakh that was earlier paid to him as remuneration for a project.
According to Mid-Day, Sanjay’s lawyer said, “Sanjay has filed a case against Vinod Bachchan for extortion, defamation and cheating. The token amount given by him in April 2014 was Rs. 49.5 lakh. A case has been registered with the Versova police.”
It is said that Vinod had approached Sanjay to be the writer and director of a film titled ‘Delhi Ka Thug’.
However, the project was shelved but they paid Sanjay the token money as he had spent a lot of time on the project.
Now that Sanjay is busy with his ‘Jazbaa’, Vinod has sent him a legal notice claiming that the token money was for the Aishwarya Rai Bachchan-starrer and he wants credit as the producer for the same.
‘Jazbaa’ also features Irrfan Khan, Shabana Azmi and Anupam Kher.
