Florida ( Agencies + DIPLOMAT.SO) – McDreamy is about to be McSingle.

The wife of actor Patrick Dempsey has filed for divorce after 15 years of marriage, the Daily News confirmed late Friday.

“It is with careful consideration and mutual respect that we have decided to end our marriage,” the couple said in a statement obtained by The News. “Our primary concern remains the wellbeing of our children, and we ask with profound gratitude that you respect our family’s privacy at this very sensitive time.”

Makeup artist Jillian Fink cited “irreconcilable differences” and seeks joint custody of the couple’s 12-year old daughter and 7-year-old twin boys, TMZ.com reported.

The couple wed in July 1999 and they do not have a prenup, so their estimated $40 million fortune is up for grabs, TMZ said.

“It remains to be seen whether it will be amicable,” an unidentified source told the website. “She’s all about the kids.”

Dempsey, best known for playing neurosurgeon Derek (McDreamy) Shepherd on the ABC medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy,” gushed about his family life in a 2011 interview with Good Housekeeping.

He said the best part of marriage was “feeling centered.”

“Nothing else matters so much as long as you can come home and be with your family,” he told the magazine.

Dempsey, 49, said the key to a successful marriage was “accepting that you’re not going to change the other person,” adding that the words “Yes, dear, whatever you want,” help, too.

The “Can’t Buy Me Love” actor said that the worst part of marriage was “not connecting.”

“Your partner is going out the door when you’re coming in, and you don’t have a chance to debrief on the day. That’s the worst,” he said.

Dempsey was in Daytona Beach, Fla., for a racing event when Fink filed the paperwork to end their union.
