Paris ( Agencies + DIPLOMAT.SO) – France condemned on Friday a suicide attack that was apparently aimed at a Turkish government delegation but which killed at least five Somalis, a statement said.

The Foreign Ministry said that France “praises the action of the Somali army and security services, as well as the African Union in Somalia.” Those forces are providing much-needed security in Mogadishu, the Somali capital, where the latest attack took place on Thursday.

“Those responsible for this barbaric act must be brought to justice,” the Foreign Ministry said here.

Thursday’s attack came just one day before Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was to visit Mogadishu and the suicide bomber exploded his device near an advance convoy for the Turkish leader’s visit.
