UNSG Ban Ki- moon appoints new deputy for UN Envoy to Somalia

New York ( Xinhua + DIPLOMAT.SO) – UN Secretary-General Ban Ki- moon has appointed Raisedon Zenenga of Zimbabwe as his deputy special representative of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM), UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said here Friday.

Zenenga will succeed Fatiha Serour of Algeria, Dujarric said. ” The secretary-general is grateful for Ms. Serour’s leadership, especially in support of the political process and of the human rights, rule of law and security institutions mandate of UNSOM.”

Zenenga is currently the deputy special representative ( political) with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS). Prior to joining the mission, he was a senior manager at United Nations Headquarters in New York for 10 years, during which he supported several United Nations peacekeeping operations in Africa.

Educated at the University of Zimbabwe, Zenenga graduated in public administration and political science. He also received diplomatic training from the Australian Development Assistance Bureau.

Zenenga is married and has three children.
