Djibouti ( DIPLOMAT.SO) – The launch of the {Licence Plus} the online system of registering players, marks a new dawn of development in the football growing nation of Djibouti.

This is the first time that the most sophisticated players’ registration program was used in Djibouti after the end of a two-day training course by FIFA which came to an end on Thursday.

The president of Djibouti Football Federation Mr. Souleiman Hassan Waberi who was reached for comment at the end of the training said that it was a huge progress for his federation to have the Licence Plus modern technology active in the country today.

“The implementation of this very useful technology was one of several development goals I always dreamed of since I was elected just two years ago and I really feel very proud as the Licence Plus is finally active here “President Souleiman said .

“I am really thankful to FIFA under the leadership of President Joseph S Blatter for helping us realise key football development goals in the country” the president explained.

He praised instructors from FIFA Mr. Izhar Maghoab (Tunisia) and Mr. Francis Adu (Ghana) for coming to make changes in how the country used to register local football players.

Hussein Elmi Bouh, the chairman of AS Port, told that such program was much needed in his country and said that local football clubs were lauding for president Souleiman and his executive committee for helping the country approach such sophisticated technology.

“This is a sign for Djibouti moving from the old system of registering players to a modern and even more easy system which is also a long-lasting online archive” said Mr. Hussein Elmi Bouh whose AS port FC represented the country in this year’s CECAFA club cup.

FIFA instructor, Francis Adu said that the world football’s governing body decided to support Africa with implementing this system in the continent after FIFA realised that Africa doesn’t have a proper Database of players’ registration.

“Moving to this system will remove more challenges that always faced Africa in terms of cheating of age and changing names of players” said Mr. Francis.

He added that in Africa it several times happened that a club takes a player from another club without their knowledge, but with the implementation of the Licence Plus all irregularities will end there.

“So with this technology in place, when a player moves from one club to another it has a trend and it will also help in FIFA player passport” Mr. Francis Adu added .
