Somaliland region security forces detainees five lawmakers
Hargeisa ( DIPLOMAT.SO) – Somaliland authorities police have detained on Saturday, five opposition lawmakers in Hargeysa after a political disagreement erupted between the president, Ahmed Mohamed Silanyo and the Speaker of Parliament Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi “Irro” .
The speaker of Parliament , Abdirahman Irro told, that security forces detained these lawmakers Said Ilmi Roble, Mohamed Salah, Ibrahim Mahdi Buba, Bashir Tukale, and Jama Hassan Adam.
Last night, the Somaliland police took over the security of Parliament building , which angered the Spearker of the Parliament .
It was planned to discuss on Saturday by the members of Parliament on “No Confidence Motion” against the current speaker of Somaliland lawmakers Abdirahman Abdullahi Irro who is also the head of the WADANI opposition party.
However, the session was postponed after opposition representatives, including the Speaker do not attend the Parliament.
Last night, Somaliland security forces arrested the secretary of parliament Abdirazak Said Ayanle, who spoke to the media after the security forces took over the Parliament building.
Abdirahman Irro who held a press conference at a hotel in Hargeisa described as illegal the planned session and welcomed the postponement.
On the other hand, hundreds of protesters have come out in Buro city, provincial capital of Togdher region, to demonstrate against the current “No Confidence” motion against the current parliament speaker.
At least a lady is so far reported dead and two others were injured after Somaliland police opened fire on the protesters.
Somaliland authorities in northwestern Somalia, claims to be separated from the rest of the territory of Somalia.
Federal Government of Somalia announced its stance toward this issue , saying ” Somalia will not accept what might hurt sovereignty and the unity of its territory by land, sea and air as well as its fateful decisions” .
Entitled to the Somaliland region to be the a region government like Puntland State ,semi-autonomous government falls under the federal system in Somalia.
