Somalia : Liido attack kills 26 people
Mogadishu, Somalia ( DIPLOMAT.SO) – According to medical sources, told that at least 26 people have killed and dozens of other civilians were injured, including former reporter of BBC Somali section Mohamed Ibrahim Moalimuu after a horrific bombing attack on Thursday evening which used car bomb, explosion and gunfire in the northern beach resort in Mogadishu.
Abdulaziz Mohamud Guled, Investigative reporter for Somali National TV said, “six Al Shabaab fighters penetrated the Beach View hotel and Liido Seafood restaurant in Lido Beach at the sea side of Indian Ocean in Mogadishu, and killed about 20 people, including four women and their children went to the beach for walks and rest”.
He revealed the painful scene in the restaurant, after a child of eight years old asked from Somali security forces to wakeup his mother to return to their house, but the mother was dead.

Minister of Internal Security of the Federal Republic of Somalia Abdirizak Omar Mohamed announced that the Somali security forces have rescued a large gathering of people and killed Al Shabaab attackers .
He added that the mastermind of this tragic attack, was arrested by Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency ( NISA) .
Sources to Diplomat News Network say there was a wedding ceremony in the restaurant which also hosts live music bands.
As sources say that fighters from Al Shabaab broke through the restaurant and hotel from both sides of the main street and the beach without a boat or a car, on foot and this is what make people trapped and vulnerable to kill.
The Al-Qaeda linked group Al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it had killed many on the Lido beach.
